Indian Railways will run "Oxygen Express" to meet the needs of oxygen demands.

The Railways will be running  ‘Oxygen Express’ trains over the next few days to transport liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders from one place to another across the country, the national transporter confirmed. Due to the sudden rise in the number of covid 19 cases, the demand for medical oxygen in the country has increased. “The first empty tankers moved today, and they are hoping to begin operations of Oxygen Express over the next few days. We would be able to send oxygen wherever there is such demand. A green corridor will be made for fast movement of Oxygen Express trains.

Instructions have been given to zonal railways to make sure readiness to receive the trailers and load them. Ramps will be built at Vizag, Angul and Bhilai and the ramp at Kalamboli is to be strengthened. The Kalamboli ramp will be ready by April 19. Ramps at other locations would also be built by the time the tankers reach those locations.

Since there are restrictions on the height of Road Over Bridges and over-head equipment at certain locations, the model of road tanker T-1618 with a height of 3,320 mm was found feasible to be placed on flat wagons (DBKM) with a height of 1,290 mm.
