Real life George Kutty,: Rajgopal Naik, a resident of Bendekere village in Arasikere taluk, was forced to choke and annihilate a leopard in Karnataka’s Hassan district when the animal attacked him and his family on 24th Feb 2021, while they were on their way back home. The leopard nibbled the child’s leg and tried to attack Rajgopal’s wife. Rajagopal showed immense bravery and grabbed the animal by its neck and hit it on the head. During the face-off, the leopard tried to break free and attacked Rajagopal, but Rajgopal did not let go of the leopard and held it by its neck. The Real life George Kutty also sustained injuries:
Rajagopal too sustained copious injuries on his face and forehead during the fight. A huge crowd gathered around him as he sat next to the corpse of the leopard, exhausted and in pain.
A video showing the leopard and Rajgopal is going viral on social media platforms. Netizens applauded Rajagopal and referred to him as ‘Real life George Kutty‘, (based on the character from Drishyam 2). Later, the Real life George Kutty was taken to the hospital along with his family.
Deputy Conservator of Forest K.N. Basavaraj informed that the slain leopard had earlier attacked a mother and a son in the Bhovi colony of Byragondanahalli which is about 5 km away from Bendekere.
The DCF also added,
“This leopard had attacked a mother and son on Monday, 22nd Feb 2021, and after this incident came to light, the forest department had laid nets and traps to capture this animal. During this process, it had attacked our veterinary doctor too, when he was aiming at the creature to capture it alive. After attacking our doctor it managed to escape”.
