Summer Skin Care: It’s that time of the year when the hot tea becomes a little less preferred and lemon-soda will be more favorable. Summer is here in all its glory; accompanied by a lot of skin problems too. Oily skin gets oilier, and dry skin gets more dehydrated and flaky. More pimples, rashes and roughness which we clearly don’t look forward to, so let’s look at some DIY skincare that one can do to prevent skin problems.
What does summer do to our skin?
According to dermatologists, higher temperatures mean it is time to change your skincare regime. Indian summers can be very harsh on your skin. So, just like your clothes, your skincare too needs to change with the season.
Too much sun is bad for the skin. Which can not only get you tanned but overexposure to sun rays can cause premature ageing of skin too. Our skin has a pigment called melanin and too much exposure to sun rays can cause more melanin to be produced and that’s how the skin colour becomes darker.
Here we have a list of holistic skin care tips that would help all skin types:

EXFOLIATE TO GET RID OF DEAD SKIN CELLS
It is very important to exfoliate your skin at least twice a week to get rid of dead, flaky skin and get down to the healthy new layer underneath which will give you the perfect glow! Make your own sugar scrub by mixing sugar, honey and coconut oil. Massage grains of sugar gently into the skin with a circular motion and rinse thoroughly, making sure to apply plenty of moisturizer after drying off. Sugar contains glycolic acid, which helps break down dead skin cells.
MINIMIZE PORES
Oil and dirt can go in pores and make them appear larger you can clear out the pores using a DIY pore strip made by gelatin and milk. Egg white with a few drops of lemon and a spoonful of yoghurt can do wonders for pores.
WAKE UP YOUR EYES
Nothing can spoil a glamorous summer look like puffy and tired eyes. A common pantry item — raw potatoes — can come to the rescue in this DIY eye treatment. Refrigerate a raw potato, cut two thin slices, and place one over each eye. Potatoes contain a brightening agent which will fight dark circles and reduce the puffiness instantly.
BRING OUT YOUR NATURAL GLOW
Instead of trying to achieve a radiant complexion by coating your face with layers of makeup let it breathe and go all-natural, with a DIY face mask made of tomato pulp and a teaspoon of plain yoghurt and gram flour. Use a spoon to scoop out the pulp from the tomato, mix in the yoghurt and gram flour to make a paste, apply to the face. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes, then rinse with water to get a natural glow.
TREAT SUNBURN
Is your skin burning and peeling in pain? Aloe vera gel is a one-stop solution for this it is known to minimize heat, moisturize skin, and prevent peeling. But the packed ones in the market usually have drying alcohols that make sunburn worse. For an easy DIY remedy, cut off a piece of an aloe vera plant and use only the clear gel and see the difference! It will heal the sunburn and give a soothing sensation.
