Ola’s upcoming battery-powered electric scooter is crawling closer towards the ultimate development and now the company has released a teaser image of its upcoming bike. The two-wheeler is expected to make its debut in the Indian business in the following few months.
This electric scooter will be based on Etergo’s Appscooter, a Netherlands-based company that was acquired by Ola earlier. The scooter will have a pretended range of 240 km but the Indian-spec prototype is rumored to have a lower full charge range. While the technicalities of the scooter are infrequent at the moment, it is said to emphasize a detachable battery set up.
Ola plans to manufacture the scooter at its forthcoming $330 million mega-factory in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. This facility has been claimed to be the world’s biggest e-scooter factory. To keep the overall costs in line, Ola is designing, manufacturing, and engineering its battery, vehicle, pack, motor, computer, and software.
The factory will wear over 10,000 workers working alongside 3,000 robots. The rooftop of the Ola factory will be blanketed with solar panels which will help the company to generate its power.
As per the company’s future plans, it hopes to manufacture 10 million vehicles yearly or 15% of the world’s e-scooters by the mid of 2022. The scooter will also be shipped abroad by the end of 2021.
Ola Electric hopes to compete with not just local rivals Ather Energy, Bajaj Auto, and Hero Electric but also some Chinese brands such as Niu Technologies.
