WhatsApp hoax : Adidas on Radar for Women’s Day 2021.

If you are an avid & greedy WhatsApp user with an inclination towards Adidas shoes, beware! The instant messaging platform ‘WhatsApp’ is under the radar of cybercriminals, trying to extract user’s personal details with the decoy of free Adidas shoes.

Whatsapp fafe messages.

A message which is circulating across WhatsApp (a messaging platform owned by Facebook) says that people can get a free pair of Adidas shoes on the occasion of women’s day (8th March 2021).

Whatsapp scam.

The message reads: “Adidas is giving away 1 million Free Pair of Shoes on the occasion of women’s day” with a link followed by it, under the name of Adidas women’s day gift and is going viral on WhatsApp.

This message is nothing but a trap to allure the users to share their details.

We would like to caution you about the scam and warn you against sharing any personal details. This malicious message has already fooled thousands.

Adidas has already affirmed that the message is a hoax and said,

“We are conscious of the WhatsApp message that is currently being circulated, claiming that Adidas is giving away 1million free footwear and we would like to advise the public about not believing this message, as it is a hoax”.

WhatsApp faced the same in 2018:

The same thing happened in the year 2018 when the same message was being circulated, claiming the occasion being Adidas93rd anniversary.

This message started circulating days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a notice forewarning the citizens about the fake websites created with a layout similar to the central bank’s official website.

The fake website asked for the customer’s banking ID, PIN, email address, phone number, bank name, and other details.

Karnataka Cadre IPS Officer Abhishek Goyal on 7th February 2018 posted warnings on social media asking the public not to believe such messages.
