We need to know this because there is a reason behind Elon Musk being the richest man.

Elon Musk, conceivably stronger than anyone in the industry today, maintains a clear vision for what real 21st-century technology is supposed to do and what kind of future it is supposed to be creating. 

Elon Musk always dreamed of a future based equally on science and economics. He always fantasized about fulfilling the agreements left by science fiction comics and movies.

Zip2

Zip2, a company that provided and licensed online city guide software to major newspapers like The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. This company was founded in the year 1995 by Elon Musk and his brother Kimbal Musk. 

Zip2 was Elon Musk’s first startup company. The company was founded in Palo Alto, California as a Global Link Information Network in the year 1995. Originally, Global Link-provided regional businesses with an Internet presence, but later started assisting newspapers in designing online city guides before being bought by another company Compaq Computer in the year 1999 for $307 million. 

Later this idea became an inspiration for the Google map that is used widely in today’s world.

X.com later renamed PayPal.

X.com (world’s first online bank and payment company secured by FDIC), co-founded by Elon Musk, Christopher Payne, Harris Fricker, and Ed Ho in March 1999. In March 2000, X.com merged with Confinity Inc, which was a software company in Silicon Valley. Elon Musk was attracted to Confinity because of its easy method of payment systems. This merged company was renamed PayPal.

Succeeding on eBay bought PayPal for US $1.5 billion in the year 2002. In July 2015, PayPal was spun off and became a self-supporting company.

SpaceX

In 2001, Elon Musk imagined “Mars Oasis“, a project to land a small experimental greenhouse containing seeds with dehydrated gel on Mars to grow plants on Martian land. It was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk with the intention of reducing space transportation costs to enable the colonization of Mars. SpaceX has produced several launch vehicles and rocket engines. SpaceX projects like the Dragon cargo spacecraft and the Starlink satellite constellation (providing internet access) and have flown humans and cargo to the International Space Station.

The first project of SpaceX was Falcon -1 rocket, a two-stage liquid-fueled spacecraft (designed to carry small satellites into the earth’s orbit).

Elon Musk has worked towards advancing technologies that will help not only humans but will also benefit the environment.

Tesla

Elon Musk co-founded Tesla in the year 2003. As the co-founder and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk leads all engineering, product design, and global manufacturing of the company’s electric vehicles, battery products, and solar energy products. It was originally called Tesla Motors, a name the company changed in the year 2017. The company was named after an inventor Nikola Tesla of the 19th century, who is best known for discovering the properties of rotating electromagnetic fields.

Tesla is currently the world’s best electric car manufacturer.

Hyperloop

Hyperloop is an idea produced by Space X and Tesla founder Elon Musk for ultra-fast inter-city travel. It is a new form of ground transport currently in development by several companies. It carries passengers traveling at over 700 miles an hour in a floating pod that races along inside giant low-pressure tubes, either above or below ground.

Neuralink

Neuralink Corporation, established in the year 2016 by Elon Musk is a neurotechnology company, which is determined to develop implantable brain-machine interfaces (BMIs). Its latest projects involved implanting coin-sized computer chips in pigs’ brains in order to attempt to demonstrate that brainwaves can be tracked.

Elon Musk claimed that this technology can help fight physical disabilities in the future.
